How Unveiling Started Working With Young Girls

In November of 2021, I was in my bedroom looking in my closet for something to wear when I heard a voice saying, "You should write a curriculum for young girls." I remember standing there and pondering what I had just heard. I wasn't praying or listening to worship music when I had the thought. It felt very random.

As I processed what I heard, I knew the idea was from God because I'd never thought of working with young girls, I had no experience working with them, and I was thrilled with the idea. By faith, I decided to move forward and start writing a curriculum, even though I felt intimidated and inadequate.

About a month later, I finished writing a six-week small group curriculum for young girls. I was really excited about how it turned out and how the Lord wrote it through me. But now, what was I to do with it? I started praying and asking the Lord to open doors for me to use this curriculum.

Fast forward three months. I was on a walk with a new friend, and at the end of our walk, she looked at me and said, "Do you mentor young girls? I'd love for my eight-year-old daughter to be mentored by you!" I immediately knew this was the answer to my prayers; this was the open door. I responded to her question, saying, "I've never done mentoring with young girls, but I did write a six-week small group curriculum for them." She said, "Oh, this is wonderful! What if I gather a bunch of her friends, and you can meet at my house?"

Three weeks later, I met in my new friend's home with nine girls who were all eight years old. I led them through the curriculum, and our time together far exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see where the Lord takes this new part of our ministry!
